OD-ing on TV

More tv came back this week, most notably Private Practice, which I was not really looking forward to based on a crappy season last year. But season 6 started with a bang and found the funny, found the old character traits and found the quality!
So Pete was removed, at first making you think he's run away and is a douche...and then found to have died...(poor Tim Daly, not cool ABC)
The season premire was spent focusing on a day from each character's (or set of characters) point of view. It was well done and the annoyingness of last season seems to have been fixed.

Charlotte is back to her old self, interesting again....and pregnant...with triplets....crazy! Poor poor Charlotte, she wasn't into it with 1 baby, let alone 3...and all I can think is how funny its going to be to see that tiny woman super fat!
Addison chose Jake...which is good -I was SOOOOOOO over the stupidity of them not figuring out that Sam and Addison wasn't working.
Sheldon is hooking up with his ex - there is more going on there, but not sure what yet.
Amelia kept very low key, and wasn't around the group really.
Mason is so far less annoying...but we'll see what happens when Char and Coop go house hunting and bring on babyland!

The New Girl is back, still not my fave show, but I'll stick with it for now.

Also good tv this week -  SNL. I was worried that without Kristen, Andy, and Abby that it wouldn't be any good. But this week's ep with Joseph Gordon Levitt was actually pretty funny. Vanessa Bayer is rocking it.

Ep 2 of Revolution was also excellent. Its my new fave show! Elizabeth Mitchell's character was revealed to be not dead (like I believed all along, very predictable). She seemed to kind of being held hostage...not sure what's going on there...but a family reunion is going to be good, sans poor Ben.

Since I was sick all weekend and had 4 days off, I finished season 2 of In Plain Sight. I listened to 2 commentaries with Mary McCormack and Fred Weller - they were very funny!
Continueing my West Wing people tv theme, I started Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip...for the kazillionth time.

Its only the 3rd week of new tv, and I'm already starting to feel stressed out trying to fit everything in! Its too much! Just wait till I get back from the big trip in November...its going to be crazy trying to catch up!

Bad Blogger

Sooooo I've been AWOL lately...too busy watching all the tv to get a chance to talk about it!

So The Newsroom is finished, can't wait till next season...I'm still hoping a few Sorkin shows alumn will pop up.
But seriously, enough with the West Wing references! That whole "gather ye rosebuds" bit was too much for me to handle!

Weeds bowed out this week, with a flash forward...with no real closure. Its funny, I kinda always expected Nancy to die in the end. But I guess it ended okay. It was nice to see some old faces again.

A new season has begun, with the shows starting up again.
Parenthood is back after a February season finale - toooooooo long a break in my opinion. Its good to finally have Lauren Graham back on my tv.

Revolution is a new show. So far I like it. Its part Lost, part Jericho, part....hunger games I guess. But its intriguing.

More shows will come back over the next few weeks. Plus some more new shows starting. Wonder what will survive this year!

Also the emmys are on on Monday. Can't wait!!!!

Sorkin Is Back!!!

So Aaron Sorkin's back with a new drama series on tv. The Newsroom on HBO. While I do find it a little strange having Sorkin on cable tv, for this series, its probably the best...and so far no major nudity! So a plus there!

The show does not star any of my people...but they are all good people. Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, Dev Patel, Olivia Munn are all excellent...even Sam Waterston is excellent! Plus a few new people who I'm going to enjoy.

I like her concept of a proper news show that presents all sides. I like the relationships. And I like that its in New York.

There are plenty of links or references with previous Sorkin shows, including a character named Margaret Jordan! The only problem I have is that I tend to compare things that happen to characters from The West Wing or Studio 60. I found many things in the 2nd episode very 'Josh', 'Donna', Leo, Matt etc.
But I think that will go away soon...and is mostly to blame on the fact that I'm halfway through rewatching The West Wing!

So far only 3 episodes have aired, but I think I've liked the 2nd one best...or maybe the pilot. Its already been picked up for a 2nd season, so I'm sure there are plenty more great things to come!

-Seeing as she's been in every other Sorkin show, I wonder how long it will be before Felicity Huffman makes a guest appearance! -Maybe some old Sorkin peeps will pop up too....

Distractions

So I do have a post about the tv I've been watching, including the season 2 finale of Glee. But I'll get that up tomorrow.

Since there is very little to fill in my time with now that almost everything is finished for the season...and I don't have a lot to read or feel like watching dvds before bed...I found myself wandering around the internet tonight.
Earlier I was catching up on some Parenthood stuff, watching interviews with Lauren Graham, Monica Potter, Peter Krause and co. The Monica Potter stuff was very cute - I liked her saying hi to Lauren from on stage at the Academy of Arts Television awards the other week.

Then while going through my favorites, including Kristin and Parenthood sites, I then came to the new KaDee Strickland site, and found they had posted a bunch of clips from her pre-Private Practice show The Wedding Bells - which co-starred Teri Polo of The West Wing. I had never seen any of this show, but found that it was by David E Kelley AND Jason Katims (of Parenthood). This was a terrible show and I can see why it only lasted 4 episodes on air. The camera work alone made me woozy!
But I'm so glad it didn't stick -cause then we wouldn't have had KaDee as Charlotte! But she's so weird in Wedding Bells - her hair is dark, which is just wrong...and makes her eyes look blue. Also she can't keep her accent straight, so one minute she sounds southern, the next its gone again. -Thank GOD Shonda made Charlotte King southern and let KaDee use her natural accent!

My fave bit though is her character Annie keeps mentioning someone called Ernesto, which instantly cracks me up because of the "ERNESTA" scene from the PPP which is one of my all time favorites.
There was a good quote or 2 too "A naked woman is shaking my hand." and "Security, bride on fire in the ballroom."

Anyways...I felt the need to share. Plus anything that keeps me from re-watching something on my hard drive is a good distraction. Its going to be a LONG hiatus!

Penultimate Eps, Finales, and Randoms

Here is my thoughts on my tv viewing since Saturday. I’ve still got a few things left from last week to catch up on, but I wanted to share my thoughts so far.

Grey’s Anatomy - There was a lot of backstabbing and making tough choices in this ep. - April telling on Christina, Lucy taking Alex’s job in Africa, and Alex revealing what Meredith did.
Christina really is a problem...I want to like her, I want her to be doing the awesome heart surgery that she can do, but she keeps pushing away all her teachers and getting banned from surgeries. I’m getting sick of that. But I guess at least she won’t be Chief Resident! I’m guessing now that either April or Alex will be the choice.

Lucy HAD to go! So glad that Alex is not going to Africa, but it did suck that Lucy stole the job out from under him, especially when he was willing to turn it down cause he was interested in being with her. Poor Alex –no luck when it comes to relationships. But the way he just blurted out Meredith’s secret to was mean. Alex and Meredith always sort of had each other’s backs –both being messed up people, and pretty much brother and sister; but now he’s gone too far –he was drunk and hurting and told Hunt that Meredith switched the trial packets.

Meredith and Derek with the baby are so cute. I liked that even though it was all about the medicine, what she said to the social worker still proved that she was invested in Zola.
Sloan carrying around the baby all ep was both adorable and annoying...don’t these people do any doctoring anymore?! But Callie was back in the zone...till Sofia showed up. –But very cute baby, I’m just going to keep saying it!
It was so funny having that patient and his family mad at April. –April is so annoying - but not in a terrible way anymore.    And sorry, SO not caring about Teddy’s storyline. I don’t love that she spends more of the time outside the hospital these days, and I don’t love Scott Foley’s character. I don’t love the other guy either. I just really don’t care about Teddy’s love life. –But she can’t move to Germany...but then again, would I really notice if she was gone?!

Big finale week next week...no idea about what is happening, but after all the death and carnage (in both shows) last year, I’m hoping for no big deaths, and anticipating lots of professional carnage.

Private Practice - Poor Betsey. Shonda has really put that little girl through the works. But gotta give props to Hailey Sole for her acting chops, it can’t be easy to play Betsey’s storyline. Her saying that people die in that hospital was heartbreaking, and brought back all the stress from losing Dell last season. So cute when Cooper and Naomi walked in, but so sad when she was mad at Violet for not visiting. –Which is totally fair though. Poor Violet is mad that they all abandoned her, and that she couldn’t keep Betsey…but Naomi getting mad at them is just wrong! She wasn’t there!
That kid was scary…poor Betsey, and then to have the foster parents just abandon her…she can’t catch a break! While I didn’t really want any of them to take Betsey, I was glad that Naomi did- that part was really sweet, and the best option. I don’t think Violet and Pete are ready, and Charlotte and Cooper are not right for Betsey either…although I think there might be a kid in their not too far off future – maybe more kid talk next season.

The whole abortion storyline was pretty heavy too. It was rather graphic, in an educational way. I accept that Naomi has to represent her opinion but her talking to that girl was wrong – not to mention holding Olivia the whole time, I mean that’s just MEAN! Addison had her own issues, but put the patient and medicine first- power to her. It was kinda sad her talking about her baby with Sloan back in the day…and how ‘she’ would have been in school now. –BTW Addison has bad math…her kid would only be turning 5…not 6.

Sheldon playing with Olivia was too cute. But give him his own storyline already!!! –Also liked the line about if people get married, and no one witnesses it, did it actually happen. – a funny little dig.
Amelia is falling off the wagon…not sure about all that, Amelia’s drug problem seems to have become a big alcohol problem…I understand that it’s a gateway, but Amelia’s been drinking plenty in the earlier half of the season with no real issue. –Charlotte hugging her was just WEIRD…Charlotte not being at all a ‘huggy’ person, but I guess it’s a sign of how much Charlotte has softened and how close the two have become this season. But I didn’t like Amelia doubting herself and all shaky after Betsey’s surgery. And Speaking of drinking, has Little Miss Martini given up drinking now? I know she’s been going to meetings with Amelia after her ordeal, where she was at risk of relapsing...but its hard to imagine Charlotte never drinking her martinis ever again.

Not sure how they’re going to end the season…I have no idea where Naomi is going to go if she’s got Betsey, and isn’t going to DC with Fife. It can’t be as sad as last year, but knowing Shonda, its probably not going to be a happy hour of tv.

Glee - So I had to wait till I saw Ness to watch Glee (and everything else) this week. It sucked, I’ve never had to wait this long before! But it wasn’t too bad. It doesn’t have that ‘dying to watch it’ quality it used to. Because it is no longer awesome. But I did love the ep this week. I was a bit iffy about Prom, but I enjoyed the ep on a whole. I didn’t really love any of the songs though. – I did kinda like Dancing Queen; it’s about time they did some ABBA. –Brittany and Tina seem to have been reduced to back-up singers. I miss the days of less solos and duets, with more group songs with lines here and there. –When the wealth was shared around more.

Making Kurt Prom Queen was very interesting, and it worked. I really love having Kurt back where he belongs. Quinn’s dress was easily my fave – SO pretty! Rachel looked nice too. I loved Brittany’s tiny hat – see she’s ‘the hat girl’.
I didn’t love Jonathon Groff’s reappearance, I just don’t love him. But he didn’t take over so that was okay I suppose.

Raising Hope - Ness was nice enough to let me download it while I was at her place, so I didn’t have to wait till Tuesday to watch it. I enjoyed Jaime Pressly being in the ep. She and the husband were both in My Name is Earl which is by the same guy that does Raising Hope.
I LOVED Sabrina’s ad for the store…but the singing with baby Hope was weird. Shannon Woodward has a nice voice!

SNL - Tina Fey was awesome as usual! I also loved that Maya Rudolph and Darrell Hammond made an appearance, in fact Maya turned up in a few sketches!
I was a little disappointed that Tina didn’t make an appearance in Weekend Update, but that’s okay. –Gotta say this ep was very Vanessa Bayer heavy, which is a good thing.

Community - I think I liked last week’s half better with awesome Annie and the western/Tarantino motif (plus it had Josh Holloway of LOST), but the Star Wars theme was fun. The Annie/Abed thing weirded me out, she’s such a Greendale whore :P Best part – barely any CHANG! He didn’t say a word! Pierce saving the day was kinda awesome too!
Hilarious having Busy Philips and Dan Byrd from Cougar Town (on ABC) pop up. –Never thought I’d see a crossover with them on an NBC show!

In Plain Sight - BRADLEY!!!! (Whitford) I love that IPS is collecting West Wing people. Also I’m SO glad that he shaved the moustache he had in The Good Guys. He looked young again! But in his suits he really looked like Joshua Lyman :(   It was a pity that Joshua Malina was not in this ep either, would have been an extra special WW reunion.

Well that's all I've watched this week, Nurse Jackie and Parks and Recreation were good too, but didn't really need much discussion -  Although them all getting wasted on Snake Juice was pretty funny! -As was Chris reading out the signs about that woman!

Slow TV Week Again

So there isn't much on this week at all. But Parenthood was on! Yay! Its back, and I love it!

Firstly, Lauren Graham had her voice back…
Secondly, what did Erika do to her arm?! -It was like Stockard Channing in the wheelchair in TWW!

Okay now for the real stuff….
Didn’t ‘HATE’ the prom stuff…Haddie isn’t that annoying in small doses and when she’s happy. Sarah and Gilliam are entertaining. That guy reminds me of Rumplestiltskin though…sorry Richard Dreyfus…but you do…I think it’s the cane.

Poor Julia, I wonder which alternative they will take…maybe they’ll adopt a kid. Poor Sydney, being forced to do everything with her mum is never that fun, but just wait till she’s a teen! Hah!
One more ‘Poor…’ is necessary. Poor Amber…I’m a little worried about where she’s gonna end up…

Yay for Adam turning up at Crosby’s ‘house’…I love when the siblings get together.

Ok…Where IS Drew?! Two whole eps without him…I feel bad that they always go on about Sarah and Amber’s relationship….but completely forget about Drew altogether! They didn’t mention him or anything. Poor Miles. (sorry…needed another one). He hardly ever gets any screen time. Jabbar and Jasmine not being there makes sense, and they were there last week. If Drew is not even mentioned in the next ep I’m gonna be mad!

The finale of Mr Sunshine was fun. Okay, even though Lizzy Caplan is too young for Matthew Perry, their characters were adorable together!
A reference to Benjamin Bratt was entertaining and freaky since he’s going to join the cast of the PPP next season…
Overall it was a good ep, but what a crappy ending….I really don’t like Alonzo.

Last week's ep of the Good Wife was a great one. The stuff with Kalinda is getting tricky! Knew the friendship between Kalinda and Alicia couldn't last forever. I like that Cary has become a good guy.

Making The Best of a Quiet Week

So only 6 of the shows I watch are on this week. :(  boo. But I'm making the best of it, and looking forward to new eps of other shows next week or the week after.

Firstly Awwww! Gotta love a Walker Family party. Evan got cute! "Uncle Noodle". love it! Glad to see Kitty back. Thank god! Nice to see Paige popping up, sometimes I feel like they always ignore the kids. But I wonder if we'll ever see Cooper again?! I don't really care about the whole Olivia thing...I wish I did, but I just don't.
Now that he's gone, I kinda miss Tommy, but at least Kitty is back.
This is the 3rd ep of Brothers & Sisters I have downloaded. I normally would just get it off Ness, but with only 6 things on all week - its nice to be able to be up to date. Its on at the start of the week, meaning by the time I get it off Ness, and watch it myself, its time for a new ep again. So this is definitely easier.
I wish they didn't talk about Langley, and DC and the CIA so much. Its making me nostalgic for Alias, and I really don't have time to re-watch that anytime soon.

Mr Sunshine was kinda good this week....it was totally awesome just for the fact that Allison Janney's character tackled a Smurf! It was too hiLARious! Seeing her ice skate with a Smurf was pretty awesome too! - I love when the use the talents of actors in stuff. -There was never a good excuse to have her ice skate in The West Wing.
Ben and Roman's boy slumber party was kinda funny too. Cup hands was silly, yet seriously amusing. But  again I still don't like Alonso, but I can live with that for now.
Its still not a great show, and I wouldn't be that sad if it never came back, but I want to love it, for Matthew and Allison.

Well that's two shows down, four more to go. Seems so sad.

Fave TV Couples - A Valentine's Day Post

So almost every TV series has a 'couple'. TV history is full of fan fave couples. In honor of Valentine's Day, I thought I'd share some of the tv couples that share a special place in my heart.

Cooper and Charlotte - Private Practice
Coop and Char win the award for my fave couple currently. But I still remember those days in season 1 when I thought that Cooper and Violet were going to be a great couple (and Addison and Pete)...how things changed quickly. Cooper and Charlotte started out having a little fun, but quickly became one of the sweetest couples on tv. They've had their ups and downs, a few breakups...the ep in season 3 where they were just yelling at each other in the conference room broke my heart. But the season 2 ep where he goes all the way to Alabama to be there for her when her dad was dying, goes to the essence of Charlotte and Cooper. They have a rhythm, and a way of complimenting each other, she's become a lot more of a people person since they started going out.
I was so excited when they got engaged at the end of season 3, but this season we have really seen them work through one of the biggest hurdles ever thrown at a couple, and so far they seem to be surviving. Its made for some really touching moments between them. I'm glad that their fun sides are starting to come back though - the ep with the chicken this season was too cute!
Hopefully their wedding will happen at the end of this season...they deserve some peace and happiness.

Scotty and Kevin - Brothers & Sisters
When it comes to Brothers & Sisters, my fandom doesn't really get too worked up like with other shows...but I have a soft spot for Kevin and Scotty. Scotty was adorable from the start, and has grown into a very well rounded, well used character. I love that he's been adopted into the family, almost like Rebecca. They've always been such a cute couple, that when they hit a really rough patch this season, with Scotty having an affair, I was shocked and a little heartbroken for them. I've always supported their desire to have kids, but we'll see how this current storyline plays out with them adopting/fostering this girl.

I also really liked Justin and Rebecca, not quite to the same extent.

Josh and Donna - The West Wing

Although they were not officially a couple for seasons and seasons...I was hooked on Josh and Donna's potential very early on....I mean that Christmas gift in season 1...and the snowballs, and all the other little things they teased at throughout seasons 1-6, before they FINALLY got together in season 7...and it was GREAT! Only good part about them not getting together till near the end, was that they never broke up.
"I’m just sayin’ if you were in an accident, I wouldn’t stop for a beer."
"If you were in an accident, I wouldn’t stop for red lights." - I mean....COME ON!!!

-I also loved the relationship of CJ and Danny...but they had nothing on Josh and Donna. NOTHING!...that Santa suit was cute though...and the ongoing goldfish themed gifts.

Matt and Harriet - Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
Studio 60 may have been short lived, but I was just so grateful that they had time to get Matt and Harriet back together. They were absolutely meant for each other, and yet were too crazy to realise it. They were never together within the show until the end, so we only saw their relationship through flashbacks, but they had a strong connection, right down to Matt's writing better with her around.

Danny and Jordan, Lucy and Tom were also fave Studio 60 couples, but they were not quite as special and Matt and Harriet...close, but not quite.

Chandler and Monica - Friends
I know everybody loves Ross and Rachel....but I never cared much for them. Monica and Chandler were sweet, real, and went together so easily that it never seemed weird for them to be a couple. It was great to watch their relationship grow from a one off hook up, through getting engaged, married and having kids. Plus watching them hide their relationship from the rest of the gang made for some QUALITY tv. They also NEVER really broke up...they were separated by distance a little while, but they pretty much got together and stayed together....how many other tv couples are allowed to do that?! - Not a single other in this list, with the exception of Josh and Donna - Monica and Chandler had 6 years of not being broken up!

Joey and Pacey - Dawson's Creek
Everyone had an opinion on who Joey should be with, Dawson or Pacey. Man was I glad when Pacey won out in the end! Dawson was WAY too whiny. Pacey and Joey clicked and had serious chemistry. I mean who doesn't want a guy to buy them a wall....okay well that's all Joey, but it was really sweet. And the boat!!!!

Sydney and Vaughn - Alias
Syd and Vaughn never faced good odds as a couple...they couldn't even speak in public. But my god was I happy when they finally took down SD6 and had that big smooch amongst all the rubble and mess. Things actually got worse after that, what with Syd disappearing, Vaughn getting married to a double agent...but it all worked out in the end and had cute little Isabelle, and then got out of the spy business to live in a tropical paradise.

Luke and Lorelai - Gilmore Girls
Oh boy...another couple that spent years teasing at a relationship, and nothing. It was clear from the first season that Luke loved Lorelai...and she was pretty keen on him as well. Finally at the end of season 4 they got it together! Season 5 had me almost in tears when they broke up after Emily's meddling...ecstatic when they got back together and got engaged...season 6 saw Luke being an idiot keeping his new daughter separate from his life with Lorelai even after the initial shock period...It only got worse with Lorelai actually MARRYING Christopher, but she quickly realised that wasn't gonna work. The series almost ended without them getting back together, but they ended the series finale together, and we're assuming that they stay together this time.
The great thing about Luke and Lorelai was that he cared for her and for Rory when he had no reason to. He was always there for her...sometimes it was building or fixing things, but mostly it was emotional support...or just a cup of coffee..

Sawyer and Juliet - LOST
Back in the day it was all Sawyer and Kate...things changed quickly when Kate went back to civilisation, and Sawyer and Juliet were stuck in the 70's Dhama initiative. I went from hating Juliet, to loving her, and the two of them could not have been cuter! Juliet's death was one of the saddest in my tv history, but when they brought characters back in the weird alternate world in the finale, it was SOOOO good to see Sawyer and Juliet find each other again.

Carol and Doug - ER
So I was never a 'shipper' for Doug and Carol, but when I was growing up watching ER, I loved the two of them as a couple, and even more when I re-watched it all on dvd. Things were rocky early on, she wouldn't date him in season 1, then he was dating someone else in season 2 and 3....but finally they got together, stayed together, and then he left for Seattle...I was so glad George Clooney came back for Juliana Margulies' final ep...Carol turning up in Seattle was great. When they both came back for an ep in season 15 I was giddy, it was great to know that Carol and Doug were still together 10 years later.

Abby and Carter - ER
Yes ER gets 2 posts, it had 15 seasons and dozens of characters! This is one of 2 couples in this post that didn't actually work out...but I can't help it, I loved Carter and Abby together. Abby had a lot of issues back in the day (okay she always had issues), and Carter was good at helping her through them...till he left to go to Africa...and it was all miserable after that. But I always thought Carter and Abby had better chemistry that Abby and Luca. They were fun, a good mix of sweet and silly. Fave moments include - slashing the tires of her ex-husband's car, him dragging her off to an AA meeting after Mark died, and then there was the time they were in lockdown in the ER for a few weeks. Unfortunately they were doomed. But I really enjoyed them while they lasted.

Jordan and Woody - Crossing Jordan
One of my first serious 'shipper' couple obsessions. Jordan and Woody had potential from the start, had some sweet moments in season 2, season 4 almost saw them get together...then Woody gave her a diamond ring as a birthday present...not a great move. Season 5 saw them finally get together...didn't last long though. They sort of got together in the finale....but it wasn't nearly the high quality ending that the show and the characters deserved. What I always liked about Jordan and Woody, was his ability to call her on her issues, and his dedication to her...he wasn't always just the country bumpkin following her around. He cared, he was invested. Her issues were her problem, always getting in the way, or making her run. Jordan was complicated, but the her relationship with Woody softened her a lot.

Brenda and Dylan - Beverly Hills 90210
I guess a fave couples list would not be complete without mentioning a classic tv couple...unlike Pacey/Joey/Dawson, Brenda/Dylan/Kelly was a triangle that didn't go my way. I always thought Brenda and Dylan understood each other better than anyone else could. Things went really bad when Brenda went to Paris....she should have stayed home...bad Kelly!

Meredith and Derek - Grey's Anatomy
I can't finish this without mentioning Grey's Antomy. But I've never loved any of the Grey's couples. Back in the day Alex and Izzie were my fave couple, but they got annoying and then there was no more Izzie. I used to like Arizona and Callie, but they have broken up and gotten back together so many times I just don't care anymore. I hate all of Christina's relationships.
I would have to say that my fave Grey's couple is Meredith and Derek...its real, has grown over the years into a marriage (albeit by post-it), but they are actually kinda cute...maybe not as important to me as the other couples in this list, but I believe in them, and would hate for them to break up.

The PPP on DVD

So since I finished watching 3 seasons of Brothers & Sisters, I gave in on and moved onto PPP which I was going to hold off and wait till I had the 3rd season, but since its never cheap on amazon and I was DYING to watch season 2, I couldn't wait any longer.

Because I could, I started all the way back in the beginning, with the Grey's double. It was SO weird to watch after all this time...Amy, Paul and Chris were all babies! It was so weird to have Merrin Dungey from Alias as Naomi...she just wasn't Audra...I love Audra now!

It was weird to see Stephanie Niznik of Everwood in those eps now...her hair was the wrong color...and she wasn't Nina. Gotta love Nina.

That was Sunday, by sunday evening I had watched 7 eps of the first season. -I couldn't go to bed before watching the ep where Charlotte goes down the rabbit hole. It's THAT good.
Monday I watched the rest of season 1, and started into season 2. Finished off day 2 of PPP-Palooza, having watched the first 4 eps of season 2.
Day 3 saw me watching all the way through to ep 11...and dying to watch ep 12.
22 eps in 3 days...crazy.

One thing that made me laugh about the Grey's set up eps, was the mention of a non-consorting rule in the practice....that didn't last long at all!

Okay so here's the thing, season 1 I watched just after we got back from the US in October. I knew those eps almost inside out, having watched them at least twice before season 2 started...maybe more... But going into season 2 I have found I remember nothing. I mean I knew I didn't remember much, but boy was I right. I remember the ep with Charlotte's dad dying, and the whole Violet/Pete/Sheldon thing, and the finale with Katie, and Charlotte opening the practice downstairs, Joel Grey, and Dell and his kid. But other than that...nothing.
I guess I WAS distracted by a lot of things back when season 2 was starting...Pushing Daisies, Wicked, Kristin, Idina, The West Wing....all of that definately would have taken up a lot of memory space in my head.

I'd forgotten about pregancy scare with Charlotte and Cooper. -See I knew the kid thing had come up with them before, I just couldn't remember how. -But Marjorie and Walter?! -They should not be allowed to NAME children! hah. I'm sure they'll do better when the time comes.
Charlotte in season 2 is like a totally different person to the Charlotte of season 4....okay not really, but the hair, and the outfits (or lack there of...) seem like so long ago, she's grown up in many ways. Charlotte and Cooper as a couple are finally a little more stable in the current season.
Also, I don't remember PPP having such an 80's/90's soundtrack! In the earlier eps I have found so many old songs, almost none of which have any soundtrack potential. -But I have found plenty of other good songs for the soundtrack I'm gonna make when I'm done with the dvds.

Anyways...more comments to come I'm sure. Hopefully I'll find a chance to watch more eps soon. I'm sure I'll be done by the end of the week at this rate!
Yay new eps next week! Not that long now.

The Emmys - Part 1

Ok so the Emmys were monday....I had to work so I couldn't watch them till later, and due to a technical mishap, I had to download the awards part. So I watched the abridged version on channel 10.....and am catching up on the bits I missed.

I'll comment on the red carpet and best/worst dressed later, but for now I've got comments on the awards part.

There were SO many people I liked up for the same awards it was hard not to be pretty happy with the result.
-I was happy for Jane Lynch. She ROCKS. But I would have loved for Kristen Wiig to get an emmy....but I have a feeling they are never gonna give out awards for SNL unless for hosting.
-Yay for Edie Falco! I mean....I would have loved Lea Michele or the others to win....but I love Nurse Jackie too.
-I really wanted Elisabeth Moss to win best supporting actress drama....But if someone else had to win, I'm glad I was Archie Panjabi from The Good Wife. -And how IS Rose Burne only a supporting actress for Damages?
-really thought Julianna Margulies would win for The Good Wife....I wasn't so fussed about the rest.
-yay for Mad Men and Modern Family winning! I had this feeling all day that Mad Men would win....I love Glee, but it kinda lost something in those last 9 eps...I hope it finds it again in season 2. (Not that those eps were not awesome).

Lauren Graham and Matthew Perry presenting award together was both SO cute....and also terrible. Bad jokes, bad jokes. But it was nice to see them together again, since they are friendly....

Loved the Modern Family with George Clooney thing! I just love him!

Julianna Margulies and Jimmy Fallon did a really bad fake-slap 1st go....2nd go was spot on.

Overall I thought Jimmy Fallon was a great host. Lots of musical stuff too!
I think its gonna be hard to get "The island it was mystical, but in the end they died....I didn't understand it, but I tried!" out of my head anytime soon!

Oh and it now feels sad to me, that after all the nominations the cast of The West Wing got over the years....that none of them are even anywhere near the emmys anymore....Matt Perry and Connie Britton representing....

Oh and one thing that really annoyed me...was the "coming up in...." warnings across the screen.....we don't need warnings all the time!

More to come.

Election Time and Election Episodes

Oh The West Wing how I have missed you!!!!!

Okay so I've been saying for a few weeks now that I wanted to watch the election eps of TWW, since we're having an election this weekend. I finally got time last night to watch Election Night, and am in the middle of Process Stories right now. - I probably won't have time for Election Day part 1 and 2, but I can watch them after saturday.

You know the weirdest thing? Even though I've been watching more recent Bradley Whitford (and others) in stuff....they all looked weird in season 3....but not in a 'young' way, but I guess more of a 'wow it has really been too long' way.... I honestly don't remember when I last watch any West Wing.

Anyways.....moving on.
I'm enjoying Mad Men...and Community, but since Alison Brie is in both shows, I cannot watch them on the same night. It weirds me out too much. So glad there is plenty of good Peggy stuff this season! (Hey no Zoey in these eps of TWW....)

What was that about moving on?.....oh yes.

Hot in Cleveland is finishing up soon....and its getting better.....or at least showing off the talent a little better. However I still find Valerie Bertinelli really really annoying. But the others are funny.

I've only got 2 eps left of Las Vegas season 4....and omg no wonder I had forgotten about the end of season 4. I knew Mary left....but I had completely no recollection of how or what happens to Mary.
I'll talk about Las Vegas more when I've watched the last 2 eps of s4....and then its onto the crappy season 5.....maybe it won't seem so bad this time around! lol

wow....how did I forget Joanna Gleeson's characters name in The West Wing?......okay the ep is over now....I'll move on, and finish up.

Grey's Anatomy The Finale

Wow it took a while to get through writing up my thoughts on Grey's, but to be fair, there's A LOT to comment on....and better late than never.

So OMG, possibly the best Grey's finale ever! I mean...this was ER traumatic! But this ep had me on the edge of my seat, or rather, rocking on my bed. 2 hours (well, 2 42 minute halves...) of stressful, painful, heartbreaking writing and acting from the Grey's Anatomy gang....they pulled out all the stops this year, I'm sorry I ever doubted they would get back on track!

I went into the finale knowing nothing other than it was big, but I started the 2nd ep by accident, so was spoiled for Derek getting shot....but holy crap I didn't expect what else they did!

So firstly, Michael O'Neill playing a really bad dude was kinda heartbreaking, after all those years as Secret Service Agent Ron Butterfield on The West Wing.....but I'll get over it.
Secondly, I didn't care much about Reed....and her death just reminded me of when Eden died in Heroes (played by same actress), it was just very similar. But I did feel a little sad for poor April, that was a lot of blood...and her best friend and all.....

But when that guy shot Alex I screamed "Alex" really loud that I thought someone would run into check on me! (But they didn't). Poor Alex...I was in agony hoping someone would find him after he pulled himself into the elevator! It was just....

I was so happy for Meredith at the beginning, I was trying to decide earlier in the season when they were discussing a McBaby whether I was for it or not....and decided I was for it. However, you know things are never gonna turn out well when Meredith is being too cute and happy for most of the first ep.
And hats off to Ellen Pompeo for her acting, I always feel she never gets enough credit or praise, but she's awesome!

The whole Bailey and Charles stuff was so sad. Because like Bailey I never really cared about Charles Percy, but the effort she put into trying to save him, and then when he died it was super sad....however not as sad as other stuff... Also when Bailey told Clark that she was a nurse to avoid getting shot, it was just so sad, and yet smart...

Lexie almost got shot, that was impressive how she sorta gave herself up. After working with Mark to save Alex who she decided she loved, and he called out for Izzie in his dying state....Poor Lexie, she can't win.
The whole ep was about people's relationships, in terms of romance, or just professional. The bond Christina and Meredith have is something I love about Grey's, even though I have never loved Christina - which I think is partly to blame on the fact that I never like the guys she's dating. But when Meredith pushed Christina down in order to get to Derek, it was such a 'woah' moment. Meredith's come a long way.

Derek getting shot was a major catalyst for the storyline. But while I don't LOVE McDreamy, I love him because Meredith does - if that makes any sense. So when he gets shot, I feel for her. And the fact that Christina is the only one that can save him, means a lot for the Christina/Meredith relationship. When Christina won't let Meredith watch, and all she can do is sit and wait with April...who I gotta say has bugged me all season, and still continued to bug me in the finale, but I did feel some sympathy for her when she expressed her grief over Reed.
So then comes the biggest stresser of the episode, Owen not letting Meredith know that Clark has a gun on Christina while she's operating on Derek! Like things weren't bad enough already for Christina, she didn't need more pressure....but then when Meredith comes in, and gives herself as an ultimate victim for Clark - because she's Derek's wife, and like a daughter to the Chief (Weber will always be The Chief), and Lexie's sister....I mean...the tears were rolling by this point! But then when they trick Clark into believing Derek is dead, and putting Meredith through that heartbreaking moment of believing he's dead....it just killed me!

And then Meredith had to stitch up Owen, who got shot in the chaos....and when April tells her she's bleeding, and Meredith just states matter-of-factly that she's having a miscarriage....that was perhaps the saddest moment of the finale. Because she was unable to grieve or even really acknowledge it....It just broke my heart. I just wanted to give Mere a bit hug!

Ok the body count on this ep, just in terms of injury, not just deaths, was unbelievable! From Reed, to Alex, to Percy, to Derek, to Owen....and all those other people in the hospital. It mean, that was A LOT of main characters to get injured. Oh the humanity!

Major props go to Callie Torres for taking charge and staying calm when Clark came to the kids floor. Poor Arizona - I'd be scared too! At least some good came out of the scare though, big YAY for Callie and Arizona getting back together!

Now for the other characters I haven't mentioned....Mark helped Lexie save Alex....in perhaps one of the most complicated love triangles/circles there's been in a while. Mark still has feelings for Lexie, poor Lexie loves Alex, Alex calls out for Izzie - rendering the Lexie/Alex pairing no good. And then there's Teddy (who I still think has a ridiculous name), and who also played very little part in the finale at all. I liked Mark and Teddy, but I think that's doomed cause he still loves Lexie....and since Christina and Owen are officially back together, I am not sure what the future holds for Teddy. -And I was just starting to like her too! I know she's getting promoted to series regular next season, but I'm not sure where they can go with her. Christina has almost out-grown her teachings....as proven in the finale, when Teddy was not around to help Derek. Also since Teddy and Owen are not gonna become a thing, and it looks like Teddy and Mark might be doomed...I hope they find good stuff for her next season.

Jackson Avery - I do like Avery a lot. He and Meredith had a good bond going, being royally inbred and all, with famous family members always hanging over their heads. Looks like he's sticking around, and I was glad they didn't kill him off. He's the one Mercy West-er that I actually liked.
And Owen...well I don't have much to say about Owen, except that he's an ok guy, I just don't care about him much.
Oh and the Chief! I forgot about the very cool bit where the Chief walked into the hospital and convinced Clark to shoot himself, instead of him.....Good stuff!

So there are some more people joining the cast next season. I don't mind that, I just hope they service all the characters properly. I don't want good cast members not getting good material, cause there is nothing worse than having characters starting to suck....it'd be better if they just were written out!
Bring on season 7. -Oh and I'm totally ok with s8 being the last, as long as they write it well!

-I hope I didn't forget anything, I'm sure I did....there might be a follow up :P

LOST Series Finale Wrap up

Well finale season is just about over, with only a couple of shows still running. I plan give my thoughts on all the finales, with single posts dedicated to LOST, and one to Grey's Anatomy, and then another for the rest.

Lets start with LOST.

Well....firstly...I watched the finale last tuesday night, at a LOST finale party, with Ness, Nick and Brett. Pretty much all our reactions were the same.....what the heck was that?!
Its not that I didn't like it so much as, it kinda came out of no where, and I am not sure if it satisfies me.

It has been a few days now, I've had time to process, and I just rewatched it last night. So I can finally do my thoughts.

Firstly, that ending was really strange....I was perfectly happy with the whole island ending. Jack is the new Jacob (obvious choice or not), gets stabbed by Flocke/Man in Black, Flocke gets shot by an injured Kate and is kicked off cliff, Jack fixes broken island, dies, Hurley takes over as new Jack, Ben stays to be his deputy. Which is a perfect ending for Ben, who has always been very connected to the island, and wanting the power of the island.

There are a few unanswered things about this part of the finale in regards to the characters though;
Desmond apparently will live and somehow get home.....
Sawyer, Kate, Claire, Miles, Richard and Lapidus leave the island on the Ajira plane...we assume they get home? I mean....it is left very open...
Rose and Bernard we must assume are still living in their shack?
Claire finally gets to be with Aaron again?
Kate and Sawyer? - Do they pair up in their post-island, post Jack/Juliet world?
--Not that any of these are important....but still things my brain wonders in the wake of processing ever

The ending ending, the whole sideflash world being some kind of meeting place to all go together to the afterlife....weirded me out. I guess it makes an ok ending, not great, but ok.
I mean...I must say I'm glad that it didn't end up being that they were dead all along and that the island was never real....cause that would have been a kick in the face, as bad as a dream senario would have been.
But part of me had always liked the idea of the side flash world being like a parallel world, where they could have chosen which to live in, in which Sawyer would have chosen a world with Juliet, and a good portion of the rest would have chosen the island world.
Desmond even teased at something like that; his better world thing, before he goes down into the light….it was a misleading way of saying the side-flashes are a parallel world….which in a way I would have preferred…..

The end actually reminds me a little of the finale of the Chronicles of Narnia books. (spoilers - for those who haven’t read them)…..
But at the end all the people who have visited Narnia, except 1 of the siblings, dies in a train accident and they all get taken into a new world by Aslan, because Narnia dies too.
I guess thats all part of the whole Biblical thing LOST had going on.

I like the idea that people reunite with those they love/those that mattered, in their afterlife.
I loved the idea that Sawyer and Juliet were soul mates....and that scene where they reunited was so cute and sweet.....made me really really sad. I was a fan of Kate and Sawyer, and would have loved to have seen them get back together (maybe they did once they got off the island...who knows, but she did profess her love for Jack just before they left, so probably not....) But I always felt that Sawyer and Juliet had a really special relationship. They had those 3 years for it to grow and develop....without having to worry about escaping, or surviving, they got a real life for a while. They didn't have the obstacles that Sawyer and Kate had. So since there was an afterlife, I'm glad they got to stay together forever.
I think of Sawyer and Kate in an Amy/Josh from The West Wing way....were great fun, but were never meant to last forever!

I also liked the symmetry of Jack’s eye being the final shot, like from the start of the pilot ep. And Vincent the dog lying next to him. Little things like that are nice.

Liked that that last bit had no sound in the church, that those people came back together in their after life or whatever. Would have been weird with sound.  - I must say I LOVED the music in the finale eps. ....Although that very Western part was a little weird.

It was cool that they brought back so many characters that had died much earlier, like Shannon, Boon, etc, in addition to Juliet, Sun, Jin, and Sayid. But it was odd to see characters who had never ever met in the story, sitting in a room together, like Juliet and Boon….messed with my head.
I also think it was odd to have baby Aaron, I mean, ok he was a catalyst, but it seemed weird to have him there…..but then again….I guess he was just as much an important character in the early days too…

However, I find it interesting that Ben never went in....does that mean he's not part of the gang? He wasn't as meaningful to ALL of them? or just JACK? The moments between him and Locke, and him and Hurley outside were really nice.

Also, I find it interesting that Daniel, Miles, and Charlotte were featured in that world, but not part of the main group at the end, like the rest of the island people that showed up in the side-flashes, like Alex and Danielle. Also.....why weren't Richard and Lapidus part of that world?  - I guess they were all guest stars...not main players.
.....And speaking of Richard, since he got a grey hair, does that mean he will age now? or not....It just seemed weird to me for Richard to gett off the island and flying on a plane....but I guess he's not actually Mr Jungle like I think he was....its part of my missing LOST history/memory.

The whole sideflash thing with Jack being formerly married to Juliet thing was weird....and just another issue for the whole Juliet – Jack – Kate – Sawyer relationship mess. At least it ended ok. I was never a fan of Jack, so never liked him with either Juliet OR Kate....Sawyer I liked with both, but if I had to choose....I'd pick Juliet and Sawyer, for the previously mentioned reasons.

-The fight in the rain was a total finale cliché - I can name quite a few other series or season finales with big epic fights in the rain....

In terms of my predictions for the finale predictions, I didn't actually have many. I never really thought they'd kill Kate, turns out she's wonderwoman!
-I was right about Jack, and Hurley, that they were the new Jacob (never thought there would be more tahn 1 though) - that was it…..although technically they were all dead at the end….so in a way…I was right about that :P

Oh best quotes from the finale.
“I was shot by a fat man” - Charlie after being woken up by Charlotte.
and
“I don’t believe in a lot of things, but I do believe in duck tape!” - Miles fixing the airplane.

Ultimately, LOST ended well.....I think. I still seemed like an odd weirdass ending, but at least they did wrap up the Island part of the story, and I guess that's what matters. But part of me still thinks the whole last season would have been better if the side-flashes had been left out....especially for the finale....but then I guesss no one would have been satisfied with just.....we have  a new Jacob, now lets go home....ending.
Plus the other world left people guessing for most of the 6th season, so I guess that is important for LOST....always keep them guessing.

Unanswered Questions  - I always thought they'd reveal the name of 'Man in Black' at some point....cause they worked so hard to not give it away....but I guess its more mysterious to never name him.
-I'm sure I'll remember some more things that were never resolved later on....but I can't think of anymore that don't really make sense right now.

Whether or not it ended well, I think I am still unsure to whether I am satisfied or not....but since I don't feel too lousy about it....I guess I'm good with it.

Finally, I have some general comments to add on LOST as a whole.....
-apparently Ben is the Sark of LOST….bad, good, bad, good…etc   As well as the series punching bag! I wonder if there is a count out there of the actual number of times he has been beaten up/tortured?....Probably.
-I am now wondering if I have ever commented on the fact that LOST, like Grey’s Anatomy, had a Dr Shephard (diff spelling) and a Dr Burke? ABC is unoriginal apparently when it comes to doctors.

Oh and then there are the saddest LOST deaths.....
-Juliet’s was absolutely brutal, even though I knew she was gonna die, it was just a horrible way to go, and really emotional….not only was I bawling my eyes out in the season 5 finale….but then had to relive it all again in the s6 premiere when she was still alive, before dying in Sawyer’s arms. Gut wrencher!

-Charlie’s was also a really really sad death….Alex's death was pretty sad too, and Shannon's....and Boon’s back in the day…but quickly got topped by others.
-I'm sure I'm forgetting others....Libby's was sad, but only because of how it hurt Hurley....I found Libby annoying, if I remember correctly.

And now I'm done. :)
I am looking forward to being able to rewatch the whole series again in the future, in quick succession, hopefully I will understand a little more of it.....or at the very least, get to relive some of my fave LOST moments from one of the best shows on TV!

A Little of This, A Little of That

So at this current moment, I am in the middle of a West Wing Quiz, where you have a list of actors and have to name the characters they play. Grouped by difficultly....I have an issue with this in that Dule, Janel and Rob have been placed in the 2nd easiest group, while Jimmy and Alan who were on the show much much less are in the easy group....
Presently I am trying to remember Anna Deavere Smith's, and Adam Arkin's characters. ....Stanley..... It might come to me by the end of this post.

So it's been a while since I've posted much. I've been watching a lot of Grey's Anatomy lately. I finished season 4 and am just past halfway through season 5.
In terms of current tv, its been slow lately....however Glee came back last week. And it still rocks. I have some issues, but they might resolve themselves. So excited that Idina Menzel is in it! Kristin Chenoweth's ep airs next week. SUPER EXCITED!
Lost is up to ep 13, so not many left now. I'm gonna be really sad when it goes....cause other than Grey's Anatomy and Brothers & Sisters, all my shows are new or young.

The Good Wife has been on break, which sucks. It somehow evened out my Wednesdays. For some reason all my shows are on on Tuesdays in the US, so its Wednesday by the time I get them. The pecking order used to go, LOST, and then Parenthood or The Good Wife - alternating. Now it goes, LOST and Glee first, then Parenthood and The Good Wife. It doesn't matter which goes first in each set.

Parks and Recreation has been on break for ages and doesn't come back till next week. It better be a good ep! Modern Family and Cougar Town are still on, and I still can't let go of Cougar Town. I like it too much....but it's probably my least fave of all my shows.

I've been getting some extra stuff while things have been on break. I got some Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey was awesome. I got Taylor Swift's one from last year. And there are a few more that I can get.
I watched 2 eps of How I Met Your Mother  - one for Amanda Peet, and one for Carrie Underwood. I have to admit that I really don't like that show much at all.

......still no clue on Anna and Adam's characters other than his first name is Stanley....Damm Will & Grace, all I can think of is Stanley Walker...and I KNOW that's not right.
I give up....oh yeah Nancy McNally!.....and Stanley KEYWORTH!  I also missed Mark Harmon, John Goodman, James Brolin, and Zeljko Ivanek. But that's not THAT bad.

Makes me sad that of the 3 people that answered the forum, only 1 person knew Mary McCormack's character, and NONE knew Kristin's character :(     -These are not my people!

That is all I've got for tonight.

Its All Rob Lowe's Fault!

So while I am so excited that Rob Lowe has joined twitter (@RobLoweProfile), he tweets a lot about things related to The West Wing, in addition to Brothers and Sisters. Now this is both great, and really annoying at the same time....because the more he talks about it, the more I want to watch it.

Now there is nothing wrong with me wanting to watch TWW, but the problem is once I start, I want to watch more and more....

A while ago, Rob mentioned something about Sam and the census...so that has been stuck in my head and today -feeling uninspired of what to watch, I gave in and decided to watch the ep with Sam, CJ and the census. Took me a little while to find it...I knew it was either ep 4, 5 or 6 of season 1. (its 6. Mr Willis of Ohio for future reference) The funniest thing was that for the first time in awhile, I was watching an episode based completely on characters other than Josh and Donna...and didn't even know what they were doing in that ep. So I am proud of myself...and at the same time dissapointed in myself that I didn't remember that its the "I want my money back" ep.

At least I was able to watch that 1 ep, and go away feeling satisfied, without having to watch anymore. Maybe I'm growing. :)

MIA

I'm just coming off almost 2 days without internet access, and I'm a little crazy....but I just came across this pic of Janel Moloney, and I'm not sure if its just me, that I've been watching too much Grey's (plus Night at the Museum, or truth, but in this pic of Janel Moloney, she looks like Kim Raver!

It's odd, and annoying....and possibly a sign that I need to stop watching tv!

In other news, I found this really adorable site listing reasons why seasons 5-7 of The West Wing are awesome!
http://community.livejournal.com/hymnformysoul/3765.html

But I must say I am slightly dissapointed in their choices for The Cold...cause as much as I love Kate and Will, we all know that ep is really ALL about Josh and Donna!....ok I spoke too soon...
-Definate points for Freedonia...and including Annabeth!
Sooo good. I really need to watch some more soon....

Two Sides of the Same Story

So since we've had a major heat wave these past few days, I've been watching a lot of Dawson's Creek lately. My sister and I are almost at the end of season 3, thanks to a few days of temperatures in the late 30's. For the past few days it has been way too hot to do anything, but sit in front of the TV under the airconditioner, with a few Super Mario or swimming breaks.

This whole Dawson's Creek thing started after my sister wanted to watch an ep after learning that Joshua Jackson, one of the stars of the 3 Mighty Ducks movies we had just completed watching in full, was in it. Now Dawson's Creek, herefore to be refered to as DC, starting in the US in 1998, I'm asuming we got it in 1999, but I can't be sure. I myself did not start watching it until very late into season 2, about 4 or 5 episodes before the finale. I hate to admit it, but I was one of those people who had never seen it, and since thought it was awful....how quickly that changed. So I myself spent my mid to late teen years loving it to death. I remember taping the season 5 finale that aired the day I left for the US in 2003....and watching it in fuzzing black and white when I got back (this was the result of a crappy TV aerial). And then finding season 6 by accident being played during the day in summer 2004...and taping the last 3 episodes when my family went to Canberra, and watching them in one go when I got back....and bawling my eyes out (even though I had been spoiled about Jen's death due to the internet and channel 10 taking forever to air the eps).

So here we are years and years later...It's been 6 years since DC ended for me, and I'm watching it from the start for at least the 3rd time on dvd, (although it has probably been more time than that), all because my sister wanted to.
It only just occured to me today, that this is totally new to her. I mean it isn't TOO dated, there are the odd references I have to explain to her, but for the most part she gets it. But what I'm really enjoying is watching her follow the character's stories. I mean, I've seen everything many times, and remember pretty much most of what happens. Things just don't affect me the same way anymore. I mean sure there are things to come that I'm pretty sure will draw a tear, but the little things don't do much to me anymore. Today my sister was getting teary over a really sweet slightly sad episode in which Principal Green gets forced to quit...even after Joey and the gang rally around him...

What I've also come to realise, with a lot of things, not just DC, that you can never get back that first time you watch something. There is nothing like being excited about what is going to happen next....I miss that with The West Wing...I LOVED not knowing....and even when I knew things, I didn't know details. While I am enjoying other things about rewatching DC (and other shows) there is something special about watching something for the first time. I mean...I'm already depressed about Jen and her fate....and it's only season 3.

So next time you watch something new, something for the first time, enjoy it!

Finally Done!

So I said it would be done by Christmas, and it is....technically I finished it on Sunday...but it took me a while to upload it.

So here is my very first fan vid. A Josh and Donna vid to John Berry's 'I Think About It All The Time'.

It's Christmas Time!

It's that time of year again, when I start pulling out the festive episodes of my favourite TV shows.
I watched Studio 60 back in October or something, so that might have been the first...not counting the Ally McBeal christmas eps. I also caught the Grey's Anatomy Christmas ep a few weeks ago, in my re-viewing of the first 3 seasons.

In the more recent days, I have watched the season 4 Christmas episode of Will and Grace. I watched the season 1 Christmas ep of Friends today, and one of the season 1 Christmas eps from ER.

Other than ER, Friends and The West Wing, there are not that many Christmas eps from my shows. I will skip Gilmore Girls this year, because I am only up to season 5...and I don't need to watch season 1 again, and don't want to skip ahead to season 7 either.

I will spend the rest of my time, watching Christmas movies....or movies that are set around Christmas, and working my way through Grey's and GG.

Maybe after Christmas I can get to that stack of new DVDs that I got for my birthday.
Wish me luck!

Sunday, 22 November 2009

I warn you now...I wrote this when I was totally exhausted and therefore probably completely out of my mind....but I felt the need to share!

So I know it really should have occurred to me by now…and probably has before, but I have forgotten….but I realised that there are people out there who will see exactly the same thing I do, and think about it in a totally different way to me. What I like/have seen/appreciated/am aware of etc…affect how I will read something.
For example, my mum and I both watch Brothers and Sisters, and have from the beginning. So in terms of the characters and the general story of the show, we have the same history to pull from in our understanding of what is going on.

However, there is also all the material we bring from our pre-existing knowledge/history/adoration etc of the actors/writers etc… We knew going into the series that Calista had done Ally McBeal, and that Sally Field had done many things and loved them for them. I knew about Patricia Wettig and Ken Olin being actually married. I knew Ron Rifkin from Alias and so that made me see his character in a different way to my mum.

Now I didn’t really know anything about Rob Lowe when he started in Brothers and Sisters, and am not sure if I even thought that much of him after that…I knew I liked him, and knew that he was from The West Wing, and some 80’s movies…but not a whole lot else. Then I watched the West Wing…and while that changed the way I see almost everything, I now realise that my love of him from TWW makes me love his character more. I “aww” at him, and like his smile and him in a tux makes me happy. But my mum isn’t a fan, she doesn’t love him. And as a result does not get so excited to see him in the show, I mean she doesn’t hate him or anything, but she does adore him like I do. She doesn’t understand why I giggle when he says something overly political, or grin when he’s wearing a tux, but she can appreciate the character most of the time.
So if I take that logic to anything else…I A) start to feel bad(and kinda sad) for all the people watching movies with Allison Janney in them, that don’t or can’t appreciate her awesomeness! It’s really their loss, and I am sure most of them don’t know what they are missing. And B) worry about the people that watch the same shows I watch, and don’t get why so many people love certain characters they don’t, and also how so many people can actually HATE characters that I LOVE to death!
I wonder if there will ever be the day I will not be watching something and be able to connect it back to one of my fave TV shows. I also worry that someday I am going to either miss something, or not be able to hate the characters I should, because I am too attached. I mean its sorta happening already, but I imagine in the future, my brain might completely end up changing a movie or show I’m watching, and I will actually believe a very different outcome to what ACTUALLY happened.
