Well I wasn't that excited for this years Emmys I must say. I wasn't sure about Jane Lynch hosting....but she was actually pretty good...and WAY better than the last time FOX hosted them - anybody remember that round stage with the people sitting ON the stage itself? TERRIBLE! But I would have rathered had Jimmy again.
My fave fave fave part was the Lead Actress in a Comedy pageant! When Amy Poehler rushed up on stage, I almost died of laughter! And then when the rest of them got up...it was just pure awesomeness! I would have loved any of them to win...I am SO glad that Melissa McCarthy (or Sookie St James as she will always be to me) won....I love her, even though I don't watch her show....but I kinda wanted Amy Poehler to have her turn! Maybe some day she will win. I also was rooting for Martha Plimpton, but she'll get more chances...just look at Kristin Chenoweth!!!
-Also I totally vote that those 6 ladies host next year's Emmy's. They'd be unstoppable!
I feel bad for the people in the categories with Maggie Smith and Martin Scorsese...your odds are pretty damm slim!
I was also excited to have such a large SNL presence at the emmys. Kristen, Seth, Andy and Lonely Island, Lorne, Jimmy, Amy and Tina....its weird seeing Seth out and about now...and getting interviewed on the red carpet.
While I have been grizzling about the PPP and Parenthood not being recognized this year - when they really really deserved to be, I did give them points for at least including them in their drama show clips - PPP especially, cause it never gets as much attention.
As for the Red Carpet - I wasn't stunned by any of the dresses particularly...nobody really stood out this year.
My faves are all just people I thought looked really nice. Aubrey Plaza looked really pretty all dressed up...she cleans up nice when she's not April. Jayma Mays looked really nice too. I even thought Amy Poehler looked good in her blue number...or maybe there's something wrong with me. -Oh and I was disappointed in Dianna Agron this year, she's normally one I LOVE for fashion, but she still looked nice.
The interviews all sucked too, except for every Amy Poehler and Will Arnet one! Those two should have a talk show someday...or you know...host an awards show.
So overall....yay for the Modern Family awards! yay for Julie and Ty...I loved that Phil and Claire got awards...and that the show won. Yay for Mad Men...but maybe next year a different show will win, starting to get sick of those two hogging all the awards!
That is all.

Kristin's Back on Glee.....yay.....sorta.
This week’s ep was definitely better in my opinion. I don’t know what it was. Maybe it was that Kristin Chenoweth was back in it. –But I doubt it, seeing as she was hardly in it and only sang one good (albeit awesome) song. I liked the Sam storyline I guess. It actually had substance. Who knew Sam could have a good story.
I also liked Brittany’s web talk show ‘Fondue for 2’. Lord Tubbington got a lot of screen time! Yay for more Brittany...but I miss her quirky one liners. There is something to be said for keeping characters small.
Emma was kinda back in the nothing group this week. She was there at least I guess. Sue Sylvester has become the most useless, annoying character. She never does anything interesting and has seriously lost her edge! I did like her quick costume changes though. –A reference to Ann Coulter makes laugh.
Also…I hate to say it, but give Mercedes a damm storyline already!!!! She never does anything…occasionally belts out a good tune or run at the end of song, and occasionally has a good comeback. Totally a wasted character. –ok they gave her something to do the other week when she went uber diva, but that was really stupid and annoying.
Overall I liked the music. Fleatwood Mac had good catchy songs. I liked that they did a group song at the end. In some ways it kinda felt like old times, but with a slightly crappier plot. Loved Santana singing ‘Songbird’. –Loved the line about Brad the piano player being “just furniture” and then saying “no offence” and him just shrugging. Gotta love Brad!
Also I loved the faces on the kids while April and Mr Schue were singing their duet. It was adorable.
I think my fave part of the ep was that there was lots of Quinn singing. I’ve missed her. I loved her expressions during Rachel’s rendition of ‘Go Your Own Way’.
Overall I did enjoy the ep. I really enjoyed the music, and there were some decent storylines…some not many, but enough. I don’t know. Maybe my standards are dropping with Glee. Maybe I just expect so little that when there is anything that makes me smile I take it. But for Kristin’s only season 2 appearance, I was very disappointed in her part. She needed at least 1 more good song, and a way better storyline…that did not involve Teri Schuester. Maybe NEXT Time.

Glee
Well this week's ep of Glee was extra long...and it didn't completely deliver, but didn't fall flat either.
I loved the Quinn/Rachel duet. Great song, sounded good. worked well. Some of the other songs were not great, but the 'Somewhere only we know' one was good, and Kurt's song whatever that was. -Ok best thing about the ep, Kurt is back at McKinley and back in the Glee club! FINALLY!!! Also Mike O'Malley popped up again! Yay! -I like it when people who are in the credits actually are IN the episodes. No
Plenty of Emma...not great Emma though. Although the therapy stuff could get interesting. No Sue though. It always seems to be an either/or with Emma and Sue. They rarely both get featured.
Speaking of Sue, I miss Santana and Brittany being cheerios. I'm still weirded out by their regular clothes. -Brittany has become the hat girl!
Least fave parts - Quinn's new backstory...I think that goes against something from the first season...but I didn't like it one bit!
Also didn't like the whole Santana/Karofsky thing...still not buying the whole Santana is gay thing...but then it took me a little while to get used to Callie being gay in Grey's Anatomy too.
I dunno. Glee definitely is not what it used to be. It isn't consistent or of the quality and standard it started out with. It started out with a slightly more mature adult view, and has now gone pretty much completely teen tv. Which sucks, cause there used to be a happy medium for a while, I wonder how long I will keep watching. I honestly don't know...at least Kristin Chenoweth will be back as April in next weeks ep. So that will be fun.

Glee - Weird or Fun? I Can't Decide.
Well I hate to admit it, but I was kinda laughing my ass off this week. Some things were genuinely hilarious, some were just ridiculous in a funny way, and some things were just plain sad!
Firstly, I loved having Gwyneth back - she's just too much fun. But her songs were not really as good this time around.
The whole thing about Brittany believing storks bring babies was SO sad and also stupid. There is dumb, and then there is insane - seriously how did Brittany ever finish the first grade?! The Santa thing was one thing, this made it worse! I'm not keen on what they've done with Brittany. She used to be mysterious, and say great one liners, and dance up a storm...
I'm still not used to seeing Brittany, Santana and Quinn in regular clothes...and I'm not loving Quinn's hair....I have hair issues I know!
I liked having Emma back. There were some great quotes thrown about in this ep. I liked the celibacy club thing, it was nice little reference back to season 1....ah better times....
It was good to have Stamos back too, and the digg at doctor shows was hilarious...at least for me, because I'm watching his eps of ER.
I really hate The Wharblers...their songs are nice and all....but it feels like they should just have their own spinoff and stop taking time away from the McKinley kids. Plus Kurt needs to hurry up and get back to McKinley....is he even coming back? I mean its like he's off on that other show...They may as well not even put him in the eps, it seems forced and makes no real difference to the main stories.
The whole Brittana thing has reached a new level of weird. Santana has decided she's gay? I'm confused...
Sue popped up for 2 seconds....in the Kurt storyline...apparently she lives on that other show too now. I still don't understand how the Cheerios are over for good...it doesn't seem like there will be much for Sue to do.
I really hate the preachyness Glee has taken on this season. The alcohol ep was bad enough, now a sex ep. Geez. Get on with competing! Anybody remember those big group numbers they used to do? Anybody? I mean little trios, duets and the occasional solo are fine, but as a Glee club they are supposed to be practicing for competitions.
I'm really confused about Glee at the moment. I have no idea where its going...and no idea what is going on in the heads of the writers/show runners. The quality that was there in season 1 appears to be long gone. Its gone completely teenybopper and that sucks. I mean, I hardly even remember the songs in the eps anymore. I don't rush to buy the soundtracks, or download the extra songs....
Maybe they will find their way, or maybe it'll keep dropping in quality and I'll be forced to let it go. Its very sad. Please bring back Kristin Chenoweth before that happens!

The PPP on DVD
So since I finished watching 3 seasons of Brothers & Sisters, I gave in on and moved onto PPP which I was going to hold off and wait till I had the 3rd season, but since its never cheap on amazon and I was DYING to watch season 2, I couldn't wait any longer.
Because I could, I started all the way back in the beginning, with the Grey's double. It was SO weird to watch after all this time...Amy, Paul and Chris were all babies! It was so weird to have Merrin Dungey from Alias as Naomi...she just wasn't Audra...I love Audra now!
It was weird to see Stephanie Niznik of Everwood in those eps now...her hair was the wrong color...and she wasn't Nina. Gotta love Nina.
That was Sunday, by sunday evening I had watched 7 eps of the first season. -I couldn't go to bed before watching the ep where Charlotte goes down the rabbit hole. It's THAT good.
Monday I watched the rest of season 1, and started into season 2. Finished off day 2 of PPP-Palooza, having watched the first 4 eps of season 2.
Day 3 saw me watching all the way through to ep 11...and dying to watch ep 12.
22 eps in 3 days...crazy.
One thing that made me laugh about the Grey's set up eps, was the mention of a non-consorting rule in the practice....that didn't last long at all!
Okay so here's the thing, season 1 I watched just after we got back from the US in October. I knew those eps almost inside out, having watched them at least twice before season 2 started...maybe more... But going into season 2 I have found I remember nothing. I mean I knew I didn't remember much, but boy was I right. I remember the ep with Charlotte's dad dying, and the whole Violet/Pete/Sheldon thing, and the finale with Katie, and Charlotte opening the practice downstairs, Joel Grey, and Dell and his kid. But other than that...nothing.
I guess I WAS distracted by a lot of things back when season 2 was starting...Pushing Daisies, Wicked, Kristin, Idina, The West Wing....all of that definately would have taken up a lot of memory space in my head.
I'd forgotten about pregancy scare with Charlotte and Cooper. -See I knew the kid thing had come up with them before, I just couldn't remember how. -But Marjorie and Walter?! -They should not be allowed to NAME children! hah. I'm sure they'll do better when the time comes.
Charlotte in season 2 is like a totally different person to the Charlotte of season 4....okay not really, but the hair, and the outfits (or lack there of...) seem like so long ago, she's grown up in many ways. Charlotte and Cooper as a couple are finally a little more stable in the current season.
Also, I don't remember PPP having such an 80's/90's soundtrack! In the earlier eps I have found so many old songs, almost none of which have any soundtrack potential. -But I have found plenty of other good songs for the soundtrack I'm gonna make when I'm done with the dvds.
Anyways...more comments to come I'm sure. Hopefully I'll find a chance to watch more eps soon. I'm sure I'll be done by the end of the week at this rate!
Yay new eps next week! Not that long now.

Its EMMY WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So the emmys are on next monday, and the creative arts emmys were last weekend....Kristin didn't win for guesting on Glee, but I can't be THAT mad cause she was beaten by Betty White on SNL....
Meanwhile, Neil Patrick Harris DID win for Glee which was cool!
There were a few other awards that I was happy for, like music for example.
I'm in the middle of reading EW's top 50 emmy snubs and wanted to share my thoughts.....
-I'm totally with them on Ellen Pompeo. She has totally acted her butt off over the last 6 years of Grey's and barely gets a peep of attention!
-ALIAS!!!!!!! Man I'm missing that show right now! They really should have got more awards, especially in the early years!
-Brother & Sisters? Not sure that was ever really up to the best drama catergory - as much as I love it and all....maybe in the early days. -although last season's finale was a gutwrencher!
Okay not really much more to comment on.....
There are still lots of good people nominated for stuff in this years emmys, so I'm excited to see who wins!
-Hopefully I can find time to watch it without spoilers!

Thank Heavens for Glee!
So I'm listening to the latest Glee soundtrack for the umteenth time....and thinking to myself just how glad I am that Glee came into the world!
It all started last year, when I heard about this new show starting about a glee club....back then I had no idea what a Glee club was. -Then I learned it was a musicial show....and those never had a good track record for staying on air. Mostly I paid attention to news of it because it was announced that Kristin Chenoweth was going to guest star....and I'd watch just about anything for Kristin! Victor Garbor guest starring was also another draw card.
So in March or whenver it was that they aired the pilot, we watched it and thought it was interesting, but were not sure how long we'd want to watch it......boy we were fools!
So then in September the rest of the episodes started airing, and within a few eps I was totally hooked! Obsessed even! I loved Rachel, her voice was amazing, and the others slowly became favourites of mine too. I was iffy on Puck, untill he sung 'Sweet Caroline'....I do like guys who can sing :P Even the characters I hated at the beginning have become faves, like Quinn!
I bought the first soundtrack, then the 2nd....and downloaded the songs I liked that were not on the soundtracks. I watched the episodes over and over....I also passed them onto my sister and my mum who both became hooked....in a lesser degree than myself obviously.
So 13 episodes aired, and then there was a long wait for new eps, Sectionals is one of my Glee faves. Lea Michele continues to blow me away week by week!
Finally new episodes aired, and brought Idina Menzel into the Glee-verse, allowing people all over the world to see the awesomeness that is Idina. The same for Kristin...however Kristin has done more movies and TV than Idina. I have loved Idina since I first saw RENT the movie. But there is very little out there to see or hear of her's. Glee has allowed me to get semi-weekly fixes of Idina. So thank you to Ryan Murphy for getting Idina on!
Now there's only 1 more ep left of season 1 part 2. Can't wait. While these last 8 episodes have had their ups and downs, some fall into my least fave category, others into the all time fave one.....I have been ever as obsessed, and am not sure what I'm gonna do for months without it. -The same thing I did with every other series I love/d I guess.....deal, and rewatch!

TV, TV, Everywhere....and Not a Drop to Drink!
Well I did it. I finished season 5 of Grey's Anatomy. The finale was really hard to watch, knowing that it was George the whole time....it was easier when you only had a little amount of time to get really upset....rather than it growing as the ep went on!
However, now that I've finished season 5, and am back to watching s6....I'm totally confused and lost. I might have to rewatch this seasons eps before the finale, cause Ellen Pompeo hinted that you will need to know what's been happening this season.....and with watching seasons 4 and 5 at the same time as 6....I'm a little jumbled.
Now lets talk Glee! - Well after a slow, slightly dissapointing first ep back, and then an interesting Madonna episode....which was both fun, yet not quite up to what I want from the show.....ep 3 came along with Kristin Chenoweth singing 3 great songs, and great songs for the others....however a whole ep without a Rachel number was both weird and refreshing. But I think I even liked this Kristin ep better than the first one!
However the 4th ep was not my fave either, I didn't care about Olivia Newton John or Physical one tiny bit. I did like You Can't Touch This....and Emma standing up for herself....but none of the songs really stood out as ones I NEED to download. I mean they finally let Puck sing, and make him share with Finn (and Jesse...who I like less each week sadly).
Brothers and Sisters- I think I can see where they are heading with Robert and Kitty.....I just really don't want him to leave....I think that show is slowly losing the plot. Sometimes it feels like they make up the show each week as they go...without really planning out the arcs. I mean whatever happened to Ryan...he was just a pointless boring character! And I really could care less about Luc....
Parenthood - Still LOVING this show. SO glad to have Lauren on tv every week! And I LOVE that its not just her on that show that keeps me coming back each week. The stories are great. The characters are all great - there is not realy anyone I hate...which is refreshing! The only thing they need to work on, is the editing of the credits. Every ep goes from Cold Open to credits without any proper 'crash' or transition. It feels really out of place. I LOVE that it has credits...I just worry that the editors have forgotton how to transition into them....go back and watch The West Wing, or Dawson's Creek, or Gilmore Girls....they all had it right. The credits should not feel out of place with the rest of the ep, it should blend, keep a tone. Anyways...that's my 2 cents on the credits.
The Good Wife - Well....after Peter stormed out of the apartment, setting off the alarm....I was kinda looking forward to him going to back to jail.....I didn't really care much about what was going on in this weeks ep. I did like Will playing Judge though, that was kinda fun.
P-Rex - SO glad to finally have this show back...1 month was way too long to be away. Although there is only a few eps left, and that mean not long with Mark....however we get Rob Lowe, so I guess that's worth it.
Modern Family - Everyweek I feel a little bad for this show, cause it gets pushed to the back by all my 1 hour dramas, but I really do enjoy this show.
In Plain Sight - Still really enjoying this show....the one problem is that they had Allison Janney on so early, and now no other ep can live up to that! Steve Weber's ep was fun, but last weeks was a token slow ep. I'm sure it will be more fun when Josh Malina comes back....and we figure out what's going on with Brandi.
Private Practice - So glad Violet is finally back!....AND she wants Lucas!
LOST - ok....OMG! I know I had been thinking over the last few eps that they should start killing off the main characters early, cause no one would expect it....and then there was this weeks ep! They SHOT Kate!...which I guess means she won't be around too much longer....she was shot in the chest. Sun and Jin had a very sad exit, and Saiyd had a 'hero' moment - taking the bomb away and being blown up as a result. They also got rid of Lapedis we asssume....but no one really cares about him do they?! So we're left with Jack, Sawyer, Hurley and an injured Kate....oh and Claire and Flocke (faux Locke)....and Desmond...
-I have no idea how this is all gonna turn out, and what it has to do with these alternate world scenes.....but its gonna be AWESOME....and I'm guessing really really sad :( Must remember tissues for the finale.
-Also ....can't wait for Allison Janney's ep. She's seriously going for TV domination this year!
Now...there was something Ness and I were trying to figure out the other day, recently we were watching a scene of something, where someone had a cup of coffee, emptied it out cause it was hot, filled it with water, and then threw it at someone.....and we haven't been able to place it. To me it sounds like it could have been, Gloria in Modern Family, Mary/Marshall in In Plain Sight, or Charlotte/Cooper in Private Practice. But then it could have also been from a movie....so maybe we'll never know.
Anyways...that's my TV-recap.

A Little of This, A Little of That
So at this current moment, I am in the middle of a West Wing Quiz, where you have a list of actors and have to name the characters they play. Grouped by difficultly....I have an issue with this in that Dule, Janel and Rob have been placed in the 2nd easiest group, while Jimmy and Alan who were on the show much much less are in the easy group....
Presently I am trying to remember Anna Deavere Smith's, and Adam Arkin's characters. ....Stanley..... It might come to me by the end of this post.
So it's been a while since I've posted much. I've been watching a lot of Grey's Anatomy lately. I finished season 4 and am just past halfway through season 5.
In terms of current tv, its been slow lately....however Glee came back last week. And it still rocks. I have some issues, but they might resolve themselves. So excited that Idina Menzel is in it! Kristin Chenoweth's ep airs next week. SUPER EXCITED!
Lost is up to ep 13, so not many left now. I'm gonna be really sad when it goes....cause other than Grey's Anatomy and Brothers & Sisters, all my shows are new or young.
The Good Wife has been on break, which sucks. It somehow evened out my Wednesdays. For some reason all my shows are on on Tuesdays in the US, so its Wednesday by the time I get them. The pecking order used to go, LOST, and then Parenthood or The Good Wife - alternating. Now it goes, LOST and Glee first, then Parenthood and The Good Wife. It doesn't matter which goes first in each set.
Parks and Recreation has been on break for ages and doesn't come back till next week. It better be a good ep! Modern Family and Cougar Town are still on, and I still can't let go of Cougar Town. I like it too much....but it's probably my least fave of all my shows.
I've been getting some extra stuff while things have been on break. I got some Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey was awesome. I got Taylor Swift's one from last year. And there are a few more that I can get.
I watched 2 eps of How I Met Your Mother - one for Amanda Peet, and one for Carrie Underwood. I have to admit that I really don't like that show much at all.
......still no clue on Anna and Adam's characters other than his first name is Stanley....Damm Will & Grace, all I can think of is Stanley Walker...and I KNOW that's not right.
I give up....oh yeah Nancy McNally!.....and Stanley KEYWORTH! I also missed Mark Harmon, John Goodman, James Brolin, and Zeljko Ivanek. But that's not THAT bad.
Makes me sad that of the 3 people that answered the forum, only 1 person knew Mary McCormack's character, and NONE knew Kristin's character :( -These are not my people!
That is all I've got for tonight.

The Emmys Wrap Up 2009

Well...What can I say about this years Emmy Awards?! Except... YAY Kristin!!!!!
Totally adorable acceptance speech. Makes you that extra mad that Pushing Daisies is not coming back! So now she's got a tony and an Emmy...next stop Oscars!!!
-I also loved her dress...it was sparkley and pretty.
The other awards I wasn't fussed about much....cause after Kristin winning, I was pretty happy.
Neil Patrick Harris hosting was fun. A HUGE improvement on last years moronic reality hosts. But then that was never gonna be hard to beat!
Mad Men winning was good. -I do like when shows I watch win.
30 Rock winnnig was a given, and I'm giving that show a go now....especially since I won the first season on dvd for free.
I was glad ER won the directing award, its been a long time since ER was included in the emmys, not counting guest stars...and it was a nice little ending to the series.
Not a lot more to say really....some the dresses were nice, some were quite boring. The more I see Mary-Louise Parker's short purple dress, the more I like it.

A follow up
So I had a few more comments to make on the whole 'getting to the end of WW' thing...
Over the past year...my TV viewing has taken a huge change in nature. -I discovered the beauty of Wicked and Pushing Daisies within the same week I think. And then everything just catapulted from there. See I have Kristin Chenoweth to blame and thank for everything almost.
I always knew I'd love Wicked. -I'd been waiting for it to come to Melbourne for a long time.
I'd forgotten about Kristin -who I'd seen in other things, and knew I liked, but with the strike and other things going on, -I'd forgotten about her. Then the Emmy nominations came out....and I figured I'd better watch Pushing Daisies. After 1 ep I was hooked!
Then I made it my mission to watch anything Kristin I could get my hands on. Ness and I even did our Kristin movie night.
We were even contemplating watching just her eps of The West Wing.....wow oh wow what a mistake that would have been!
I think Kristin was the final straw that broke the camels back when it came to us watching The West Wing....it was one of those shows that was WAY over my head at the time, and I probably wouldn't have been able to find it on Aussie tv anyways.
But with not much left on tv, or nothing overly interesting, we decided to give it a shot. -We LOVED Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. We loved Bradley....Allison...Rob Lowe....and a bunch of the people who guest starred over the years.
Within 1 ep we liked it....and slowly started to get used to all the political stuff...then we developed a love for everyone else. Janel, John, Martin, Richard, Dule....Moira....and then it snowballed into obsession.
And the rest is history.
On October 4th 2008....our lives as we knew them changed.
While I can't wait to watch the last four eps and see how things end up....I'm SO sad for it to all be over. The excitement, looking forward to new eps, and the fear of spoilers, and the thrill of knowing the things we did know.
So I'd just like to thank Aaron Sorkin for creating this wonderful show....and thank GOD for DVDs. Without them we would have missed a rare jewel of a TV show.
